Privacy Policy

iTutor.pk ("iTutor", "we", "us", or "our") operates the iTutor.pk website and the iTutor mobile applications for Android and iOS (together, the "Service"), a marketplace that connects students and parents with tutors in Pakistan. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.

By using the Service you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Account details — name, email address, phone number, and password (passwords are stored only as a secure hash).
  • Profile details — for tutors: photo, gender, date of birth, city and area, education, experience, subjects, grades, bio and headline. For parents/students: the details you add to your profile and inquiries.
  • Identity & verification documents (tutors) — government ID (CNIC), degree and other documents you upload for verification.
  • Content you create — messages, inquiries, hire offers, bookings, reviews and support requests.

Information collected automatically:

  • Device & usage data — device model, operating system, app version, language, and how you interact with the Service.
  • Approximate and precise location — your selected city/area and, only with your permission, your device GPS location to show tutors near you. You can deny or revoke location access in your device settings.
  • Identifiers — a device advertising identifier and a push-notification token (see Sections 4 and 5).
  • Log data — IP address and timestamps, used for security and fraud prevention.

Payment information:

  • Subscriptions and featured-listing purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect or store your card or banking details. We receive a purchase confirmation and entitlement status from the store.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • create and manage your account and provide the Service;
  • connect students with relevant tutors and enable messaging, inquiries, bookings and classes;
  • verify tutor identity and qualifications;
  • process and validate in-app purchases and manage subscriptions and featured listings;
  • send you push notifications about messages, offers and class reminders (you can turn these off — see Section 5);
  • show and measure advertising (see Section 4);
  • protect against fraud, abuse and policy violations, and keep the Service secure;
  • respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • Public tutor profiles — a tutor's profile (name, photo, city/area, subjects, bio, ratings) is publicly visible so students can find them. Do not include private information in fields meant to be public.
  • Between users — when you message, inquire, make an offer or book, the relevant details are shared with the other party to that interaction.
  • Service providers / processors — see Section 4.
  • Legal and safety — where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of iTutor, our users or the public.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on the following third parties, each of which processes limited data on our behalf or under their own policies:

  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications.
  • Google AdMob — displays advertisements in the app and may use a device advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. See Google's policies at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can reset or limit ad tracking in your device settings (iOS: "Allow Apps to Request to Track" / Android: "Delete advertising ID").
  • Google Sign-In — optional authentication if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Apple App Store & Google Play Billing — process in-app purchases and subscriptions.
  • Hosting — our servers are operated on infrastructure located in the EU (Hetzner).
  • Email delivery — transactional email (e.g., password reset) is sent via our email provider.
  • Maps — nearby-tutor maps use OpenStreetMap.

5. Push Notifications

If you grant permission, we send notifications about new messages, hire offers and class reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or by signing out. We store a device push token to deliver these; it is removed when you sign out or delete your account.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account (see Section 8), we permanently delete your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law, resolve disputes, or prevent fraud and abuse — in which case such records are kept only as long as necessary and, where possible, in anonymised form.

7. Data Security

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and continuously improve our safeguards.

8. Deleting Your Account

You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time:

  • In the app: Profile → Delete account, then confirm.
  • On the web: visit https://itutor.pk/delete-account.

Deletion is irreversible and removes your profile, login, messages, inquiries, offers, bookings, saved tutors, reviews you authored, uploaded documents and photos, and push tokens, subject to the limited legal retention described in Section 6. You may also email info@itutor.pk for help.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. Tutoring is arranged for students under 18 only through, and under the supervision of, a parent or legal guardian who holds the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights in the app or by contacting info@itutor.pk.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
